Gryffe High School Parent/Carer Participation Month and Conference

Dear P7 Parent/Carer,

GRYFFE HIGH SCHOOL PARENT/CARER PARTICIPATION MONTH AND CONFERENCE

I am delighted to invite you to join us at our inaugural parent/carer participation month & conference which will be held within Gryffe High School during the month of May.

During this month we will have two presentations from experts who have worked with young adults throughout their career.

May 09th 6-7pm – Bullying and Behaviour

Brian Donnelly: Director at Orbis Training and Consultancy

Brian has worked with challenging and excluded children and young people since 1990. His previous role as Director of RespectMe Scotland's Anti-Bullying Service for over 10 years lead him to influence policy, practice and behaviour at a local and national level. He now extends this influence across a range of areas including child protection, mental health, equalities and internet safety.

May 15th 6-8pm – Calming the Teenage Mind

Brian Costello: Director at Headstrong Scotland

Brian Costello, Director of HeadStrong, is an expert in mental health and mindset. He has worked in numerous schools across Scotland and he, and his team, continue to help countless teens (and adults!) transform their mental health and live the life they love.  Brian believes no-one is broken and his workshops and seminars give insight, understanding and advice on how we can all make ourselves more mentally healthy.

May 22nd 6-8.30pm – Parent/Carer Conference

There will be a parental conference on the above date for all P7 and S1 parents/carers. The theme of the conference is ‘Wellbeing For All’. There will be a selection of workshops around the topic of Wellbeing, with some being delivered by our own teaching staff and others by colleagues from the Educational Psychology team and external partners. The night will begin with a brief introduction in the theatre and then parents/carers will attend four workshops, each lasting approximately 30 minutes. Brief details of the workshops on offer are attached.

If you wish to attend the parent/carer conference, I would ask you to read the details overleaf and sign the attendance section. The survey link must be used to select four workshops that are of interest to you. We shall endeavour to allocate you to as many of your preferred sessions as possible.

Completed forms should be returned to the school office by Wednesday 8th May. Should you have any questions regarding this event, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Dimitra Stefanatos (P7 teacher/Authority Transition Teacher) on 01505 613811 who is organising this event.

Yours faithfully,
